June is Pride Month, but many retailers support the LGBTQ community all year. If you want to show your support in June and every month after, our list of LGBTQ-allies helps you do just that
June is undoubtedly the most colorful, rainbow-filled month of the year. The first Pride march took place in New York City on June 28, 1970, which coincided with the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. The momentous revolution was the catalyst for the modern LGBTQ movement. Regardless of how you choose to identify, everyone is encouraged to celebrate and support the super fabulousness of Pride and inclusivity. Although traditional pride celebrations aren’t expected to be in person until next year, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate and show your support.
The Human Rights Organization has ideas for how you can celebrate Pride Month from home. Their Celebrate Pride Inside campaign offers lists of musical pride playlists and podcasts, pride flag pizza recipes and other fun ideas to show your LGBTQ support.
When is Pride Month 2021?
Pride Month starts every year on June 1 and ends on June 30. It’s held in June to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York. During the month of June, celebrations are held worldwide, including pride parades, parties and concerts. Along with the color-filled parades, LGBTQ leaders are recognized for their historical impact both nationally and globally.
